Penfold Theatre Company has announced the upcoming lineup for its new venue in Round Rock. The group’s first four mainstage productions will promote the themes of “community and neighborliness,” according to the organization, with productions exploring themes from Mr. Rogers’ legacy to holiday classics and new premieres.

Earlier this year, Round Rock City Council approved a grant agreement for $326,330 in hotel occupancy revenues — paid by visitors to Round Rock — to help Penfold cover the first 18 months of rent for the 6,400 square foot performing arts venue in the Rock Creek Plaza shopping center located along IH-35, which has recently attracted an influx of new restaurants and retail. Penfold, which has been a mainstay in the local performing arts scene for the past 16 years and recognized as “Best in Austin” by the Austin Chronicle, will manage and operate the new venue, which is expected to have a seating capacity of 100-150 individuals.
The City’s comprehensive plans, including Round Rock 2030 and Round Rock Creates, call for fostering creative entrepreneurship and enhancing the community’s quality of life through diverse entertainment options.
Penfold is actively engaging in fundraising efforts to renovate the space ahead of its opening, aiming to create an environment that meets the needs of performers and audiences alike.
The new venue will also host various local arts organizations for rehearsals, education and performances. This expanded mission aims to support local artists and makes the arts more accessible to the Round Rock area. Organizations set to use the venue include Metamorphosis Dance, Monsoon Dance, Round Rock Arts, Round Rock Ballet Folklorico, Glass Half Full Theatre, Hideout Theatre, and Zach Theatre.
