Round Rock City Council unanimously approved plans on Thursday, Feb. 8, to purchase and install new playground equipment at Settlement Park, located at 1401 David Curry Dr.
The construction is scheduled to start in late May 2024 and is estimated to last about two months. The new playground from Whirlix Design Inc. will feature the following types of equipment:
- A multi-level play structure with various climbing opportunities and slides.
- A large, curved swing that accommodates multiple children at once.
- A play complex with multiple stations and activities, featuring elements like a slide, panels and interactive games.
- Individual spinning seats where children can sit and rotate.
The project is funded through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, which allocates federal funds to local projects that aid in the development of low- to moderate-income areas. The total cost for the new playground is set at $180,000.
