In connection to the death of Joshua Armstrong, an arrest warrant for murder was issued for Richard Joseph Acosta, 23, by a Williamson County judge. Round Rock Police SWAT and Criminal Investigations Division served the warrant the morning of Jan. 13 at 301 Phillips St., Hutto. Acosta was taken into custody without incident.

Pursuant to the investigation, involved party Vanessa Velasco, 20, was also arrested. She was charged with Burglary of a Habitation in connection to the same incident. The investigation in this case is ongoing.

At 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, officers responded to a call for medical assistance in the 1100 block of Preserve Place. Armstrong, 37, was found dead by a family member, who called the police about a possible suicide. An investigation was started and the death was deemed a homicide.
