An early morning structure fire in Round Rock injured one occupant and resulted in a temporary road closure on Thursday, Jan. 18.
At 3 a.m., the Round Rock Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at a residence in the 800 block of East Palm Valley Boulevard. The first unit arrived at 3:05 a.m. to find heavy fire throughout the structure. One occupant was in the home at the time of the fire and was able to exit the house; the injuries sustained were non-life-threatening, and he was transported to the hospital for treatment. East Palm Valley Blvd. was momentarily closed in both directions to allow crews to access additional water supply. The fire was under control by 3:17 a.m. A total of six fire apparatuses and two battalion chiefs were deployed.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. There were no injuries reported among firefighters. The house is considered a total loss.
