August 13, noon – 1:00 pm. Former Round Rock Volunteer Fire Dept. member Rolla McCrary will present a unique, interactive tour of the Fire House Museum, including a history of Round Rock’s volunteer and professional fire departments, and the restoration of some of their antique firefighting vehicles. Learn about the creation of the Round Rock Volunteer Fire Department, the Round Rock Fire Department, and lessons learned that led to changes in the buildings in New Town. Rolla will disclose an interesting history of a building on Main Street and share details about the restoration of the deteriorating 1884 Hand Pumper. A unique interactive tour of the Fire House Museum will provide an overview of the apparatus we have at the Museum and an explanation of why it was chosen to be there.
Note location change! This presentation will be at the Fire House Museum on the Old Settlers Association grounds at 3300 E. Palm Valley Blvd. Enter from Harrell Parkway across from the Dell Diamond parking lot.
