According to the 2022 Federal Bureau of Investigation Internet Crime Report, identity theft and personal data breaches cost Americans a combined $9.3 million in 2022. In this 90-minute workshop at the Round Rock Public Library, Meeting Room C, Silver Safe and Secure will help you strengthen your online security with better password habits and privacy controls. Topics covered include:
• Creating and managing strong passwords (password managers, passphrases)
• Multi-factor authentication (MFA) and why it’s important
• Keeping personal information private online (social media settings, online accounts)
• Avoiding identity theft (data breaches, monitoring accounts)
• How to freeze your credit

About the presenter
Silver Safe and Secure, a Round Rock-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to teaching the elderly about digital literacy and how to avoid online scams, was founded in 2023 by Ryosuke and Grace Mineta, who have a combined 20+ years of experience in cybersecurity. Silver Safe and Secure is dedicated to safeguarding our community, particularly the elderly, from the financial and emotional devastation caused by online scams.
