The Support Services Division is comprised of civilian personnel who are responsible for all public safety communications for police, fire and animal control. The Support Services Division also maintains a central repository for all records, police issued equipment, and volunteer services.

The Support Services Division consists of the following units:

The Communications Unit is the link between the community and the Police Department, Fire Department and Animal Control Services.  There are more than twenty-five Telecommunications Operators and Supervisors who work 24 hours a day answering emergency and non-emergency phone calls, monitoring and dispatching emergency personnel on more than a dozen radio channels giving the highest level of service to the citizens of Round Rock.

The Records Unit processes, files and maintains all police reports received by the department.  Civilian report writers within the records unit assist citizens by taking reports for cold call property crimes over the phone, as well as fingerprinting, answering questions, releasing reports and referring members of the public to the appropriate city office. For Records questions, contact Sandy Thomas at 512-218-5513 and sthomas@roundrocktexas.gov.

  • Digital fingerprinting is offered Monday through Thursday, 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Police Department (2701 N Mays St). Click HERE to schedule an appointment. Fingerprint cards are $6.00 per card; cash, check, and credit card payments are accepted. Individuals must bring a current Driver’s License or ID card with them. If individuals have their own fingerprint cards, they should leave the cards blank, as all information and fingerprints will be printed at the time of the appointment. Questions? Call 512-218-5500.

The Logistics Unit provides detailed coordination, issuance and tracking of all police equipment – fleet, weapons, uniforms, technology and any additional equipment – in support of the operations of the Police Department.

Volunteer Services is responsible for the Citizen’s Police Academy, the Chaplain Program, the Nuisance Alarm Unit, and coordinates volunteer group activities. Click HERE for more information on our volunteer opportunities.
