Join our Aquatics Team!
The first step to becoming a City of Round Rock Lifeguard taking a Lifeguard Training class, which will teach you how to effectively prevent and respond to water emergencies with the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training. (Scroll down to view training schedule).
The course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge to prepare you for rescue scenarios in and around the water. You will learn how quick response times and effective preparation are vital to being a lifeguard while also understanding the crucial elements in helping to prevent drownings and injuries. Training Classes
Optional Practice: Each lifeguard training course requires a Pre-Requisite In-Water Skills Assessment to become a member of each class. Those skills assessments take place on the first day of a Lifeguard Training Class. This is an opportunity to come practice those skills before your class begins. For a $5/session fee you can come try out/ practice the assessment skills with a coach. You will gain pointers on how to improve your swim strokes, up your treading endurance, and get a feel for swimming with the 10 lb. brick. Classes are 40 min. long.

MUST ATTEND ALL SESSIONS. AGES 15+
This program teaches candidates the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. Successful candidates will receive Lifeguard, CPR/AED for the Professional, and First Aid certifications valid for 2 years. Requirements: At least 15 years of age before the last scheduled class and successfully complete the in-water skills assessment of:
a. 300 yard continuous swim;
b. 20 yard swim to 7-10 ft. depth, retrieve 10 lb. object and swim back;
c. 2 min tread with no hands
LIFEGUARD JOBS: Successful completion of a training class allows candidates eligibility for Lifeguards Jobs with the City of Round Rock.

Lifeguarding review classes are designed to help you update your skills while also extending your certification for another two years. This class is offered for those whose certification is still valid (or within 30 days of expiring). Proof of certification will be required to enter class. Deep water portions of class will take place at Lake Creek Pool. Minimum of 3 students.

Become a Swim Instructor
We accept Water Safety Instructor candidates age 15 and over, and we offer FREE training to beginners, with no experience necessary! The training is designed to prepare you to aid in the instruction and swim development of children through adults. You will learn the basic progressions of stroke development and this training will give you the baseline you need to begin exploring further training as a certified American Red Cross WSI.
