Interlibrary Loan Policies and Restrictions
Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a program that allows us to share resources with other libraries in the United States. You may request books, audio visual material, microfilm, or photocopies of journal articles. You must have a city resident card or a paid non-resident card, be at least 18 years old, have had your library card for more than 30 days, and be a member in good standing. Please see our Checkout Policies for the definition of good standing.
- Interlibrary loan materials may not be renewed.
- You may have three active requests at one time. If you have already asked for 3 items, please do not make any more requests until you return one or more of your 3 items.
- Requests for items published within the last year, eBooks, or items located in foreign countries cannot be honored.
Placing an Interlibrary Loan Request
Start by searching our catalog for the item you want. If we do not own it, use the “Search for Interlibrary Loans” button below to find and request the item.
Once we have notified you that your interlibrary loan has arrived, pick up your items at the first floor service desk. They are checked out already to your library account.
We do not charge a fee for ILL services. However, be advised that you may be charged postage fees by the lending library. The average postage cost is $4.00. If your item has a postage fee, come prepared with cash or credit card. Payment is due at pickup.
