 Water Wise Program

Are you at a commercial property or apartment? No Yes

What is the Water Wise Program and how does it work?

The Water Wise Program is a voluntary program effective each summer watering season, May 1st thru September 30th, during which time our partners (any commercial or multifamily property) agree to follow the summer watering schedule and not waste water.  With customer support, water efficiency is a citywide effort and a community value!  Meet some of our partners.

The City encourages businesses, multifamily properties, and institutions to join our efforts to promote water conservation.  If you would like to participate, please download the Water Wise Agreement and fax the completed document to the Water Utility at 218-5563.

Why is this program in place?
This program is in place to help spread out the amount of water used daily.  If everyone watered every day, the demand on the current water system would be enormous.

By watering deeply, lawns establish better root systems.   The lawn and the water system both benefit.

When and who should follow this program?

  • The months of May, June, July, August and September are designated as Water Wise months.
  • Watering should occur between the hours of midnight and 10 a.m. or 7 p.m. and midnight.
  • Efficiency measures should be followed at all times, but especially in the summer months.
  • Everyone with lawns or outside foliage should follow this voluntary watering schedule.
