U.S. Congressman John Carter (R, Round Rock) will join other Central Texas U.S. Representatives in hosting an "Academy Day" for area high school students interested in attending a military service academy from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15 at Concordia University.
"Academy Day" will give students the opportunity to meet with officials from each of the service academies as well as Congressional staff. The event is being co-hosted by Congressmen John Carter, Lamar Smith, Michael McCaul, Mike Conaway and Lloyd Doggett.
Midshipmen and Cadets from the U.S. Naval Academy, Military Academy, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy and Merchant Marine Academy will be on hand to meet with prospective students and their parents. In addition, Academy Liaison Officers will be available.
The "Academy Day" program will also include information about the nomination process involved in securing an appointment to one of the academies. Students are encouraged to submit their applications during their junior year of high school to the United States Representative in whose district they reside and to both U.S. Senators from Texas.
Congressional staff members will be available at the event to assist prospective applicants.
