The National Association of Town Watch (NATW) is once again sponsoring National Night Out. The Round Rock Police Department is proud to partner up with the NATW and the citizens of Round Rock in this “28th Annual National Night Out” crime prevention event. On Tuesday, October 2, 2012 become involved and join over 35 million people in more than 11,000 communities to promote police-community partnerships; crime, drug, and violence prevention; safety; and neighborhood unity.
Residents in Round Rock and across the nation will lock their doors, turn on their outside lights, and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police. Each year, many Round Rock neighborhoods host a variety of special events such as:
Block parties,
Cookouts,
Parades,
Visits from the police and fire departments, and
Youth activities in their neighborhood parks.
National Night Out is designed to:
Heighten crime- and drug-prevention awareness;
Generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts;
Strengthen neighborhood-spirit and police-community partnership; and
Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The Round Rock Police Department invites all neighborhoods in Round Rock to meet in their neighborhood parks and join with the police to “Take a Bite out of Crime.”
