Artists for 2009
Pictures of Then - City Beat magazine praises Minneapolis-based Pictures of Then as having "a sonic balance between reverence for the past and vision of the future." Their sound is fresh enough to appeal to even the most discerning of indie-rock fans while still containing essential ingredients to have the masses "reaching for the repeat button just as soon as it ends." (MyxerTones.com) Their music has been featured on MTV's The Real World and The Hills and was licensed by other programs on USA, Oxygen and Lifetime. In 2008, they appeared on the MTV "Choose or Lose Tour." The band has also appeared alongside such renowned acts as Green Day, Interpol, and Motion City Soundtrack on multiple compilation albums. With their ever-growing fan base and the rising anticipation of their 2009 release, "Pictures of Then and The Wicked Sea," it is only a matter of time before this band, firmly rooted in indie soil, becomes one of the few independents to branch out into mainstream.
Eleven Fingered Charlie was started in 2001 with the hopes of blending the beats of reggae and rock. The band’s name was inspired by a blues legend from Texas who was so impressive with his guitar that his fans thought he must have an 11th finger to play so well. Travis Damron, Chad Manes, Dustin Hall, and Rodney Howell have come together to form this soulful group. They have toured around the nation and are now stopping in Round Rock to give us a taste of their music.
Marshall Ford Swing Band is a group who has one passion: swing music. Group members include Emily Gimble, Greg Harkins, Jeremy Wheeless, Kris Wade, James Gwyn, and Jacob Jaeger. Some of the latest tracks from MFSB are Darkness on the Delta, Poor Butterfly, Mowin’ the Grass, and Stompin’ at the Savory.
Paul Eason first burst onto the music scene with his #1 hit “One More Dance.” Securing himself the #3 spot on the Texas Music Chart was a feat that had many wondering who this independent new artist was and where he had been hiding for so long. Studying music at Houston’s High School for Performing Arts, he later continued his studies at Texas State on a Jazz scholarship. Eason admitted that his first love was country and plans to stay true to his roots as he continues writing and singing.
