The Round Rock Police Department's Criminal Interdiction Unit represents the department's commitment to reduce drug trafficking on the interstate by networking with existing state, federal and local law enforcement agencies and drug enforcement programs. All unit members have had extensive training and experience in patrol techniques, narcotics interdiction, and criminal apprehension.

The following is a list of the primary functions of the Criminal Interdiction Unit:
