The City of Round Rock's Parks and Recreation Department presents the Outdoor Family Campout on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26 and 27, at Old Settlers Park.

Come camp with us in Old Settlers Park! Register now at www.RoundRockRecreation.com.

It is said that a family that plays together stays together. Is there a better way to create lasting memories than through camping, fishing or other similar activities? We don’t think so; however, fewer families are enjoying these activities, the outdoors, and each other.

The Outdoor Family Campout can help provide basic outdoor skills necessary for an enjoyable and successful outdoor experience. More importantly, it shows families how fun the outdoors can be. The campout will lead into National Hunting and Fishing Day.
Activities include “Leave No Trace” tent maze sponsored by REI, family games, hayrides, a tent decorating contest, a campfire complete with smores, a Movie in the Park and more! The campout will lead into National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Registration for the campout is required and each person attending must be registered. Children ages 2 and under are free and do not need to register. Registration fee includes two meals (hamburger/hot dog dinner on Friday and pancake breakfast on Saturday), instructional how-to sessions, use of demonstration equipment and a t-shirt for each paid participant.  See Flier and Information Sheet for complete details and what to bring.

National Hunting and Fishing Day

8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27

Following the Outdoor Family Campout, Join Round Rock's Parks and Recreation Department and Kids Outdoor Zone in celebrating the original outdoor challenge - National Hunting and Fishing Day.

This free family-oriented event will feature fun and educational hands-on activities that everyone will enjoy. Introduce youth and newcomers to outdoor sports while teaching them about the important role that hunting and fishing play in Texas’ wildlife conservation programs.

It's a perfect opportunity to create a better public understanding of hunting and fishing and to create a better public awareness of the important role that hunters and anglers have played in conservation and improving our natural resources.  This event is free to the public.

The Kids Outdoor Zone is a youth hunting, fishing and outdoor adventure ministry based in Austin, Texas.
