The Citizen Police Academy (CPA) is an 11-week program that gives community members opportunities to experience first-hand the realities of life as a police officer in the Round Rock Police Department.

The Citizen Police Academy is an example of the successes borne of the partnership between the police and the community. One of many continued efforts to develop citizen awareness and understanding of the role of law enforcement, the Round Rock Police Department offers the Citizen Police Academy for residents of all backgrounds and occupations.

The program involves both classroom and interactive instruction, including but not limited to:

• Officer selection process
• Officer training & duties
• Emergency-vehicle driver training
• Investigation skills
• Firearms Training, SWAT and K-9 Demonstrations

Graduates are eligible for additional training and volunteer opportunities, as well as membership in the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association.
