
Round Rock turns heads
The City of Round Rock has achieved prominence as one of the best cities in Texas with numerous awards and accolades to its credit. Below is a list of some of the honors it has received.
America's Safest Cities
CQ Press released City Crime Rankings 2008-2009: Crime in Metropolitan America on Nov. 24, 2008, and for the fourth consecutive year Round Rock ranks among the top 20 safest cities in the country. Round Rock ranked No. 19 in this year’s survey. In 2007 and 2006, Round Rock was No. 13 in the survey. In 2005, Round Rock ranked No. 8.
No. 7 on Best Places to Live
In 2008, Round Rock landed at No. 7 on MONEY magazine's list of America’s Best Places to Live, its annual ranking of America’s most livable towns.
No. 6 on Best Places to Live, Work and Play
Kiplinger's Personal Finance in May 2008 released its rankings of best places to live, work and play, and the Austin-Round Rock metro area ranked No. 6. According to Kiplinger's, the ranking looks for places with "strong economies and abundant jobs, then demand reasonable living costs and plenty of fun things to do."
Bond rating among best
The City of Round Rock bond rating was upgraded by Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s in 2008. The upgrade is expected to result in $2 million in savings on the bond transactions the City Council approved at its July 12, 2007, meeting.
Relocating Families
The Austin-Round Rock metro area is ranked No. 5 in the United States among the Best Cities for Relocating Families, according to a national study (PDF). Best Cities for Relocating Families, conducted by Primacy and Worldwide ERC®, focuses on the ease with which a family can move to a new city and settle into a new life.
Young People
In January 2007, the City of Round Rock was selected in a national competition as one of the 100 Best Communities for Young People. America’s Promise — The Alliance for Youth conducted the competition to honor communities across America for their commitment to provide healthy, safe and caring environments for young people. Round Rock was selected out of hundreds of communities in the U.S. and its territories.
