What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way to subscribe to the latest headlines from a website. These headlines are automatically downloaded for the reader to filter through and click on to be taken to the publishing website for more information.
More technically, RSS files are a special type of XML file. When viewed in a broswer such as Internet Exporer, the RSS file will only display raw XML markup, but when used in the proper program, they become a great way to stay current on information from diverse sources.
RSS/News Aggregators:
RSS/News Aggregators (also called Readers) download and display RSS feeds.
Many aggregators are separate, stand-alone programs such as FeedReader, Bloglines, NewsGator, or NetNewsWire. You may also subscribe to RSS feeds using Firefox or Safari.
