Mission Statement:
Our mission is to ensure optimum performance of the City’s street and drainage utility systems through continuous improvements and maintenance.
The division is responsible for maintaining streets, traffic signals, drainage and signs and markings.
Streets
- Maintain streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, trails, driveways and city-owned parking lots and repair potholes
- Manage the Annual Street Maintenance Program, street sweeping and striping
- Maintain rights-of-way to include mowing, trimming and edging
- Perform special event road closures
- Respond to emergency situations including vehicle accidents, hazardous material spills, flooding and wind and storm damage
Traffic Signals
- Maintain traffic signals, flashers, luminaries and the emergency vehicle traffic signal pre-emption system
- Maintain school zones within the city limits
- Manage the intelligent transportation/traffic signal coordination system
Drainage
- Maintain the stormwater drainage system to include storm sewers, channels, creeks, drainage culverts and detention ponds
- Perform storm sewer utility locates
- Mow drainage channels and detention ponds
- Provide information about mosquito spraying
Signs and Markings
- Maintain signs, striping and pavement markings
- Install signs, striping, pavement markings, traffic loops, flashing advisory signals and traffic cameras
- Manufacture traffic signs
