What is the phone number for Animal Control?
The phone number for Round Rock Animal Control is 218-5500.
Is there a law for barking dogs?

Yes.

A barking dog which disturbs someone either during the day or at night can be considered a nuisance. We recommend that dogs be brought in at night and if it is discovered that they are barking during the day (usually when the owner is at work) the dog may need to wear a bark preventative collar. If the dog continuously disturbs people around it, the owner can be issued a citation.

Who do I contact about an injured deer or other wildlife?
Call the Austin Wildlife Rescue at 512-472-WILD.
What do I do if I have lost my pet?
If your pet becomes lost,
  • Look closest to home first
  • Check with local veterinary clinics, notify neighbors, search found ads in local newspapers
  • Contact the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter
  • Contact other animal shelters in your area.
Where do I get a pet license?
You can get a pet license from your veterinarian or contact the Police Department.
Why should my pet be spayed/neutered?
The most important reason to spay or neuter your pet is to prevent pet over population. It helps dogs and cats live longer, healthier lives.
Who do I call about dead animals on the side of the road?
Contact Animal Control for dead animals on city streets by calling 218-5500.

For dead animals on Williamson County roads and bridges, call 943-3330. For the highways and frontage roads, call 974-0883 for dead deer. For other animals, call 930-6016.
Is there a leash law for cats?
The City of Round Rock has a nuisance law pertaining to cats. Once a cat leaves its yard it can be considered a nuisance and be impounded.
How do I find out if my pet was impounded?
If your dog or cat is wearing a pet tag, we will contact you and let you know it was impounded. Otherwise contact the Animal Control office at 218-5500 or the  Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter.
Can I file a report if I get bitten by a dog?

Yes.

If you’re bitten by any animal, report it to Animal Control immediately by calling 218-5500.

What are the animal shelter hours?
Animals impounded by the Round Rock Animal Control Unit are sheltered at the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (512) 943-3322. Check the shelter's web site for its hours of operation.
What do I do if I see a bat on the ground?
Never touch a bat that appears sick or injured on the ground. Keep people and pets away from the bat and call Animal Control at (512) 218-5500 to capture it.
What do I do with a dead bat?
Never handle a bat—alive or dead—with your bare hands. Contact Animal Control at (512) 218-5500
What do I do if a bat comes in contact with a person or an animal?
Call Animal Control immediately at 218-5500 if a bat comes in contact with a person or pet. Try to confine or keep track of the bat until Animal Control arrives to capture it for testing. Confine pets that have been exposed to bats and keep them away from people and other animals until the bat can be tested.
Who do I call if I have problems with bees?
The City of Round Rock does not provide bee removal services. To have bees removed, look in the Yellow Pages under Beekeepers. Local beekeepers include Kinsel Bee Keepers (477-9025), Ethridge (863-5104), Bohanan (863-5752) and Lance Wilson (372-8700).

If bees are an imminent danger to a person or area, contact Animal Control.
How much does it cost to adopt a pet?
Adoption fee is $80 which includes the spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, testing, anti-parasitic treatment and a pet health exam.
How do I register my dog or cat?
An animal may be registered at the Animal Control Office or any local veterinarian during business hours.
Is there a leash law for dogs?
Yes. The City of Round Rock has a leash law which states that dogs are to be contained in a fenced yard, tied out, or on a leash at all times. This prevents them from endangering themselves, other animals or the public.
Where I can get information about bats?
You can get general information about bats from Bat Conservation International, Austin, 327-9721 or view the bat information from Animal Control.
What do I do if a colony of bats has roosted in a building?
The City's Animal Control Unit does not provide bat removal services when a colony has roosted in a building. Many pest control professionals can help you with this problem, and Bat Conservation International can provide you with information on how to evict bats yourself.
What do I do if a bat is trapped in a business or residence?
If you see a bat inside a building in a location where there are people, or in a room where someone sleeps, please contact Animal Control and they will remove it. Bats have very sharp teeth and their bites don’t always leave a mark, so if anyone who thinks they could have been bitten should be tested for rabies right away.
