How do I get a building permit?
How do I get a copy of a fire investigation report?
You must fax a request for a fire investigation report in writing to Mary de'Scacchi at fax number 512-218-3207. Please list the incident address, date of incident, and your name and telephone number should we need to contact you.

Call our Fire Prevention Division at (512) 218-6632.
How do I get on the City of Round Rock's vendor list?
Vendors can register their firm online in our vendor database. Manufacturers, suppliers, consultants and other vendors wishing to furnish materials, equipment, supplies and services to the City should register to receive bid and proposal opportunities. The vendor list supplements the State of Texas Centralized Master Bidders List (CMBL) for City procurements. You may register or obtain an application for inclusion on the CMBL on their web site.
How do I know if an organization soliciting for contributions is legitimate?
Contact the Round Rock Police Department at 512-218-5500 for more information on legitimate organizations.
How do I know if my building inspection has passed?
The Building Inspection Division will leave a copy of the inspection tag left on the job site.
How do I make an Open Records Request?
To make an Open Records Request, e-mail Open Records Request.
How do I register my dog or cat?
An animal may be registered at the Animal Control Office or any local veterinarian during business hours.
How do I register to vote?
Voter registration forms are available at most libraries and post offices.  To check voter registration information, call 943-1630 to determine precinct number.

How long does it take to get a building permit?
The time it takes to get a building permit depends on the type of permit. Generally residential permits are issued in 1-5 days. Commercial projects take a little more time.  Three to four weeks is the typical time frame. Some permits are issued immediately.
How long is my building permit good for?
Building permits from the Buiding Inspection Division are good for 6 months.  The permit expires when work has not been performed for 6 months.
How long may I keep a materials that I checked out from the library?
Library material may be checked out for three weeks, including most audio-visual items. Bluebonnet books and New Books may be checked out for two weeks.
How many books can I check out at the Library? What about audiovisual materials?
Generally, new single users may check out five items during the first month of use and 15 items thereafter. New family card members may check out fifteen items during the first month of probation period and 45 items thereafter.
How much are the fines for having overdue materials from the library?

Overdue Fines: $0.20 per day, up to an $8.00 maximum per item. Fines are charged on holidays as well as on the days we are open. There are two book drops available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Fines for lost or damaged items: Cost of the item + additional fees for non-book items

How much does a crime report for a neighborhood cost?
If you need a hard copy of a Neighborhood Crime Report, all reports cost $3 whether you come in person to the Police Department or request it by mail. We cannot fax reports.
How much does it cost to adopt a pet?
Adoption fee is $80 which includes the spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, testing, anti-parasitic treatment and a pet health exam.
How often is the sex offenders registration updated?
The sex offenders registration PDF is updated once a month; however, any sex offender currently convicted, transferred from another state or released from prison will not be posted up to 45 days.
I am thinking of buying a new home. How can I find out how many times the Police were called to homes on the street?
You can find monthly reports on Neighborhood Crime statistics in PDF on this site. You may obtain a copy of the calls for service by coming to the Police Department main lobby or request this information in writing. You will receive what is public information with a fee of $3 per street.
I am working on a project to trace my family history. Does the Library have any genealogy resources?
