Projects in this category consist of transportation projects for the City's major roadways, arterials and transportation system. Funding for transportation projects is from various sources including the ½ cent sales tax adopted by voters in 1997 for major transportation projects.
In September 2011, the City of Round Rock implemented a $58 million, 5-year transportation improvement program to address traffic needs with a comprehensive set of projects. The plan targets everything from improving access to the interstate to rehabbing major arterial roads and improving traffic flow. The 5-year transportation improvement program was updated in 2012 to include money for engineering projects and bottleneck construction projects.
