City of Round Rock wins seven awards for communications, marketing

The City of Round Rock won seven TAMI Awards on Friday, June 7, at the Texas Association of Municipal Information Officers (TAMIO) conference in College Station.

The City won two first place awards, for Cable Public Service Announcement and Cable Special or One-Time Program. The City earned a second place award for Internal Communication, and third place awards for Cable Regular or Recurring Program, Electronic Report, Marketing Plan or Campaign and Special Publication.

“We’re thrilled to have done so well against such strong competition against our Texas peers,” Communications Director Will Hampton said. “It’s always an honor to be recognized by your colleagues, and it’s a testament to the professionalism of our staff that we were able to win so many awards this year.”

The first place videos were a PSA to explain the City’s unique sales tax structure and one to explain the proposed 2012 budget. The second place award was for a Year In Review video produced for a City Council strategic planning work session.

The third place awards were for the City’s video series on water conservation and a pair of entries from the Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Sports Capital of Texas program: a “Play Inside the Box” campaign to promote an indoor sports facility now under construction and a “Pennant Folder” used to distribute materials about Round Rock to prospective tournament organizers.

The City budget video was also entered the Electronic Report category.

“Our video entries were especially strong, and we have Multimedia Specialist Brian Ligon to thank for that,” Hampton said. “And our CVB is always developing creative ways to deliver the message that Round Rock is the destination for recreational sports events and tournaments.”
