The Round Rock Police Department is now accepting applications for its 25th Citizens Police Academy (CPA). Classes will be from 7 to 10 p.m. every Tuesday from Feb. 12 to April 23.
The Citizens Police Academy is an opportunity for citizens to receive 11 weeks of classroom training and field instruction regarding police officer responsibilities. CPA attendees learn some of the procedures and techniques used by officers in a range of scenarios.
The Police Department tries to develop citizen awareness and understanding of the role of law enforcement. The CPA class is for residents of all backgrounds and occupations.
Class attendees receive information and instruction about the Officer Selection process, Officer training and duties, emergency-vehicle driver training, investigative skills, and firearms training. The class also features SWAT and K-9 demonstrations.
The Citizens Police Academy is an example of the continued successes of the partnership between the Round Rock Police and the community in which we serve.
