Saint Williams Street to close Monday, Sept. 24, for drainage work
Closure will allow City to study impact of proposed permanent closure of Saint Williams as part of Railroad Quiet Zone project

The City of Round Rock will close Saint Williams Street between Christopher Avenue and McNeil Road at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, to complete necessary drainage improvements prior to a street maintenance project.

Access to all residences will be maintained throughout this work, which is expected to take one week, weather permitting. Message Boards are up now to notify drivers of this temporary construction work. Detour signing will be in place during the construction period to redirect traffic to and from the neighborhood.

The Transportation Department will use this time to study traffic patterns at the other six roadway connections to the neighborhood. Permanent closure of this crossing is currently under consideration as a part the Railroad Quiet Zone project. The data will be used to better understand the effects that rerouting the approximately 2,600 vehicles per day would have on the other access points for the Chisholm Valley, Westwind, and Bellview neighborhoods – especially the Chisholm Valley Drive intersections with County Road 172 and with the IH 35 southbound frontage road.
