The Austin Business Journal has named the relocation of Emerson Process Management’s worldwide headquarters to Round Rock as the winner of the Office Sale Project category in its 2012 Commercial Real Estate Awards.
The awards honor Central Texas’ commercial real estate professionals and projects.
Emerson Process Management considered 26 properties to lease, buy or
build-to-suit when it was time for it to grow here. Emerson received a $1.75 million incentive package thanks to support from the City of Round Rock, Williamson County and the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce.
The company aggressively pursued the purchase of Frontera Vista I & II in Round Rock, two five-story office buildings totaling 267,874 square feet that had been mostly vacant since their construction in 2008.
Emerson invested $25 million to bring the site up to its standards. It moved 750 employees from Austin to Round Rock, and it plans to create another 125 positions over the next three years.
Emerson and its visitors also expect to occupy 10,000 room nights each year at area hotels. The new facility is in the international headquarters and technology center for Emerson Process Management.
