Round Rock Fire Department coordinates multi-agency Regional Extrication Drill
The Round Rock Fire Department, in collaboration with the Pflugerville Fire Department, the Hutto Fire Department and the Austin Fire Department, participated in a Multi-Agency Regional Extrication Drill on Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Pflugerville Fire Department training facility, 2801 Cameron Road.
With the addition of State Highway 45 to the IH-35 corridor, these agencies are taking a proactive approach to responding to an emergency event prior to its occurrence.
During the drill, the departments practiced different vehicle extrication techniques such as vehicle stabilization, dashboard rolls, tunneling into vehicles from the trunk, and other vehicular rescue techniques.
Training sessions such as these enable neighboring departments to work as a team to practice different extrication methods, become familiar with other departments' equipment, and stay current on the guidelines and procedures involved.
The Round Rock Fire Department would like to thank the following for their generous contributions to making this event possible: Round Rock Street Department, State Farm, J.P. Standard, Day and Night Wreckers, Austex Towing, Round Rock ISD, Flowers Construction and Travis County Road and Bridge.
