Centennial Plaza
Status: Centennial Celebration April 27 www.roundrocktexas.gov/centennial
Project Scope: concrete plaza, performance lawn, areas designed for street festivals, “pillars of the community”, secondary performance stage/shade structure, amphitheater overlook/bat viewing area, improvements to amphitheater, electrical system for street festivals, landscape areas, Brown/Florence Street Improvements, MOC parking lot improvements.

OSPV Reuse Water Project
Status: Complete
Project Scope: removal/replacement of existing irrigation system valves, heads, etc. to comply with reuse water requirements. Renovation of existing irrigation system at Lakeview Pavilion area, Football Complex, Cricket Field, etc. Upgrade of Maxicom System to wireless controls

Brushy Creek Regional Trail Gap Project
Status: Right-of-Way Acquisition and Regulatory Approval
Est. Completion: Spring 2014
Project Scope: +/- 2.5 miles of Brushy Creek Trail from Sonoma subdivision, across Brushy Creek, connecting to Rabb Park and AW Grimes Blvd multi-use path. Also connects to Greater Lake Creek Trail totaling approx. 7 miles.
Current Project Progress:
R.O.W. acquisition negotiations on-going
Environmental review on-going with TxDOT
100% CD’s to be submitted to TxDOT in early April

Whitlow Way and Cricket/MP Field Improvements Project

Lake Creek Pool Improvement Project

Rock’N River FAC Improvement Project 2013

CORR Facility Landscape Improvements Project
Status: Design and Construction

Project Scope: re-design and/or construction of new water-wise landscapes for all City facilities. Design will be completed for each facility and construction will take place as funding becomes available.

PARD crews have already started landscape improvements to the southside of City Hall.
Design and cost estimates complete for all City facilities.
Awaiting presentation to City Manager/City Council.

Mays/Round Rock Ave. Gateway Signs (PARD / Transportation Project)
Status: Design
Est. Completion: March 2013 (design)
Project Scope: design of two (2) gateway signs for Mays (Brushy Creek and railroad bridges) and potentially one (1) for RR Avenue.
Current Project Progress:
Coordination with structural engineer is underway
CD’s are 60% complete

Mays Street Landscape Improvements (PARD / Transportation Project)

Project Scope: design of landscape improvements along Mays in tandem with streetscape improvements

Bathing Beach Development Project

Brush Recycling Center Building Project

Veterans Park Improvement Project

Project Scope: replace plumbing fixtures, partitions, and ceiling at both complexes. Interior painting of ceilings/walls and exterior trim painting.

Lake Creek Trail (RRWest to M.O.C) Development Project

Project Scope: design of trail from Round Rock West Park to Municipal Office Complex

We are just 3 days away from the 26th Annual Outlaw Trail 100 Cycling Tour! You may register online now at www.outlawtrail100.com. You may register in person by delivering your registration form to Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department at 301 W Bagdad Suite 250, Round Rock, TX, 78664.

The 2012 Outlaw Trail Cycling Tour will be held at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at Old Settlers Park beginning at the Dell Diamond parking lot.

Each year, the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department hosts the Outlaw Trail 100 Cycling Tour featuring 10 mile, 25 mile, 40 mile, 50 mile, 63 mile, and 100 mile loop courses on county roads through historic Williamson County. Outlaw Trail isn't competitive; it is an opportunity to join cyclists from across Texas for a ride across Williamson
County.

There are rest stops set up along the trail for cyclists to grab some snacks or a drink. Riders can ride at their own pace and rely on support from sag wagons and rest stops throughout their ride. The tour closes at 5:00 p.m. so cyclists should select a course they can finish within that time period.

Family Campout at Old Settlers Park!

The City of Round Rock's Parks and Recreation Department presents the Outdoor Family Campout on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21 and 22, 2012 at Old Settlers Park.

Come Camp with us in Old Settlers Park!
It is said that a family that plays together stays together. Is there a better way to create lasting memories than through camping, fishing or other similar activities? We don’t think so; however, fewer families are enjoying these activities, the outdoors, and each other.

The Outdoor Family Campout can help provide basic outdoor skills necessary for an enjoyable and successful outdoor experience. More importantly, it shows families how fun the outdoors can be. The campout will lead into National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Activities include rock climbing, lawn games, a reptile and wildlife demonstration, tent decorating contest and more! The campout will lead into National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Registration for the campout is required and each person attending must be registered. Children ages 2 and under are free and do not need to register. Registration fee includes two meals (hamburger/hot dog dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday), instructional how-to sessions, use of demonstration equipment and a t-shirt for each paid participant. Round Rock's 9th Annual 5K for Clay takes place at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at the Clay Madsen Recreation Center. The event honors Clay Madsen and the Clay Madsen Recreation Center which strives to be a safe place where children and adults can learn the leadership and sportsmanship qualities that Clay upheld in his life which was ended by cancer. The first 350 entrants will receive a 5K for Clay dry fit runners shirt. Register now before early registration ends on August 8th!

Registration Information:
* Youth (17 and under): $18 pre register (ends August 8th); $23 late/on site registration

* Adults (18 and older): $23 pre register (ends August 8th); $28 late/on site registration

Packet Pickup and Chip Timing:
Early Packet Pick up is at the Clay Madsen Recreation Center from Noon to 9:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10. Participants may also pick up race packets on site on event day.

5K for Clay is a chip timed event. Chip timing for the 2012 event will be provided by Cadence Sports. If you do not wear a chip, you will not be timed and will not be included in any results. All chips must be surrendered at the finish line.

Immediately following the 5K for Clay, join us for an Open House, featuring all that Parks and Recreation has to offer. There will be information booths featuring different classes and programs, as well as demonstrations to try out the fun before signing up. There will be door prizes, refreshments and more! You can also take a tour of the Clay Madsen Recreation Center and see the many amenities the facility has to offer. The Round Rock Public Library will also be onsite with information on their many programs.

As part of the Open House, come join Tennis Professional Jack Alsup for a Tennis Play Day and learn all about the U.S. Tennis Association's 10 and Under Tennis Program. Demo stations will be set up for players to try out the equipment and receive guidance from an instructor. This is a free event, but pre-registration is encouraged (*20411). For ages 4-10 years. Parking:
Limited event parking will be located on site at the Clay Madsen Recreation Center. Additional parking will be available at the Shops of Turtle Creek located one block south from the Recreation center. Mayor McGraw to officially rededicate Main Street Plaza to Former Parks and Recreation Director

Round Rock Mayor Alan McGraw and members of the Round Rock City Council will officially rededicate the Main Street Plaza to former Parks and Recreation Director Sharon Prete during a ribbon cutting and sign unveiling ceremony and the public is invited to share in the celebration.

A new sign has been fabricated and installed in the Main Street Plaza to honor Sharon Prete, former Round Rock Parks and Recreation Director and creator of the People and Parks Fund administered through the Greater Round Rock Community Foundation. Prete served the City of Round Rock for more than 25 years and the Mayor and City Council are thrilled to rename the Plaza after Mrs. Prete. After the official ceremony, the official name of the Plaza will be the Sharon Prete Main Street Plaza. Light refreshments will also be served at the event.

The Sharon Prete Main Street Plaza was completed at the end of summer 2011 and opened to the public in early October. The 14,000sf Main Street Plaza includes a 610sf performance stage, 1,075sf interactive water feature, built in seating with decorative lighting, 4,000sf of grass seating and lounge area, custom shade structure, custom art panels and a state-of-the-art multifunctional lighting system.
