Round to Rock

Week 6 Begins

The Round To Rock participants started off week 6 learning about orthopaedic issues.  Erik Bruce M.D. was our guest speaker on Monday and he discussed sports medicine, arthroscopoic surgery of the knee and shoulder as well as knee reconstruction.  His presentation was very thorough, enlightening and provided great insight to what our bodies go through as we age.

 Also, we want to hear how everyone is doing with the fitness and weight loss.  How did your assessment go?

I am pretty happy with my first month assessment.  I lost almost 6 lbs and cut 41 seconds off my mile.

It can be pretty frustrating after you do a hard workout and burned maybe 700-800 calories then you realize the hamburger you really want is over 1000 calories...forget it!  I am finding myslef looking at calories and figuring out how long I would have to workout to work off that item.  Makes me want to pick better food choices.

Have throughly enjoyed the workouts with Carlos, Bobby and Brannon.  It really is a good feeling after you complete a workout realizing you would never had been able to do that a month ago.

My goal this next month is to cut an additional 8-10 lbs and run a sub 10 minute mile.

WOW...week 6 already, we're 1/2 way through and I can't believe how far we've all come!!! Everyone in the program has accomplished so much during this process, I am actually starting to see more results as each week passes, not so much on the scale, and thats ok, its; the little things, running/jogging longer w/o stopping, going from 3 rolls to 2...Haha!!!

But most of all, I am so happy with the friends I have made during all of this "adventure"!

The hill sucks.  Today, I jogged longer (with my prevuiosly injured knee that is finally feeling better) than I have since starting the program.  Last week the hill seemed tough.  Today, it was my personal challenge.  In the end I made it walking and jogging.  I will do it again, however, I wanted to be on record as another person that hates the hill.

I can't say it enough, I am so excited and feel honored to be a part of this program.  Brandon said, that at the end of the day, it is about:  how you look, how you feel and how you perform.  That works for me.  I already look better, feel better and yes, I perform better.  I have a long way to go, but at the end of everyday I am proud of what I have accomplished in working toward going from RoundToRock.  Carlos, Bobby, Brandon, thanks for your continued support and most of all encouragement.  To my other cohorts on this journey, thanks for your encouragement and most of all your patience when waiting on me to finally finish.

BTW.  One the fisrt assessment, I lost 4 inches off my waist, 1 inch on my arms and 1/2 on my thighs.  I have lost 8 lbs.  Most important I have worn several outfits that were previously headed to Goodwill or someother charitable place.  Instead of those outfits, I am sending the larger sizes.  Have a blessed day.
