Baca Center's 1000th member joined today!
At 1:50 pm today, the Allen R. Baca for Senior and Community Activities got their 1000th member!
This is an exciting time for the Baca Center. They have been waiting for their 1000th member to come in and sign up since last week and today it happened. I was invited to be a part of the action. I went over to the Baca Center, camera in hand.
For this person to qualify as the 1000th memeber they had to be a brand new member, not someone renewing their membership. Pamela Brown was that person. She came in to sign up for the membership not knowing that she was about to win a free membership to the Baca Center plus a goodie bag filled with items from the Baca Boutique.
After Pamela finished filling out the new member registration form the staff threw streamers, strayed silly string and played music to celebrate their newest member. Pamela was completely surprised and excited.
I got a chance to sit down and talk with the new member. Pamela and her husband, Charles Brown, have been Round Rock residents for the last 3 ½ years. They moved from Colorado to be closer their kids who live here in Texas. Pamela was a member of the senior center back in Colorado, but had put off joining the Baca Center because she didn’t know if it offered the same programs.
After talking to Linda Ward, a Baca Center member, about all the programs that the Baca Center has to offer, Pamela was convinced that joining was the right thing to do.
“I love playing games, dancing and traveling,” said Pamela. “I found out that the Baca Center offered all these things and joined.”
We’re glad you joined Pamela!
