Round Rocker: Parks and Recreation 411

Hooray for Independence Day

Round Rock has great weekend events planned for the community this July 4. Kicking off the big July 4 Frontier Days Celebration is the "Foosteps for Freedom" walk in the morning followed by the parade.  There are a lot of entries for this years' parade so it should be a good one! If you are interested in being in the parade it's not too late to sign up. The parade is presented by Bama, from KASE 101, and will run on the Channel 10 television station.  If this sounds like something you or your organization want to be apart of contact Bill Buckler at 512-255-9507.

I do not know about you, but after all the morning fun I am going to need to cool off.  Feel free to join me at the Lake Creek Pool with KISS FM. You can take the kids, even out your new tan lines, and cool off while enjoying good music and radio station giveaways!

After cooling off I will head to Old Settlers Park at the Lakeview Pavilion where MORE festivities are taking place.  I am debating the pepper-eating contest, but I do not know if  I have the stomach for it.  I have been practicing with the Papa John's pizza peppers (ya know, the ones that come in your pizza box). When I chicken out, I will be hanging out all over the park enjoying the Ballet Folklorico dancers and the Sam Bass Shootout. There will be games for the kids, a watermelon cutting, vendors and activities all over the park. I would not want to miss this! Talk about your talk of the town... So I hope to see you out there, I'll be running around dabbling into a bit of everything (maybe even the peppers)!

If you want more information on this years' July 4 Celebration feel free to comment if you want feedback, or visit for viewing your pleasure.

Have a Happy Independence Day!
