Round Rocker: Parks and Recreation 411

Are You Excited?

With the July 4th Frontier Days Celebration just around the corner, I cannot help but get excited.  I have never been to a Round Rock July 4th Celebration, but lately there is so much talk about all the stuff that goes on throughout the day.  A parade, a fun walk, watermelon cutting, skydivers, and of course and big fireworks blowout at the end of the day.

My favorite part of July 4th are the fireworks. No matter where I am or what I am doing I have always been able to go see a fireworks show. When I was younger, my dad would take my brother and I to the top of this hill in San Antonio where we could watch the fireworks show at SixFlags. It was awesome!  So I am excited to see the fireworks show at Old Settlers Park where the show can actually be up close and personal!

I am interested to know from everyone what the rest of the day is like? What is your favorite part of the Fontier Days Celebration and what else should I get excited for?

The fireworks are always fun, but my favorite event is the jalapeno pepper eating contest. Something about folks volunteering to sit in the hot sun and chow down on those pickled peppers makes for great entertainment.

I love the parade.

Here is a pointer - when you see the "Sam Bass Shootout" guys, make sure you and your little ones cover your ears or they will be ringing all day...
