Attend Boat Building School and take part in the annual "Round Rock the Boat Regatta"

Old Settlers Park will be full of spectators waiting to see who will float, sink or swim at the Round Rock the Boat Regatta at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14. Contestants make boats out of cardboard and tape and will rely on their inventions to keep them afloat as they race across the lake at Old Settlers Park.

Attend one of our Free Boat Building Schools and learn the art of cardboard boat building.

6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23 at the Allen R. Baca Center
9 a.m. Saturday, March 19 at the Clay Madsen Recreation Center
10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16 at REI in Round Rock

Round Rock the Boat Regatta this Saturday!

Round Rock the Boat Regatta takes place this Saturday, May 15 on the lake at Old Settlers Park. The pits will open at 10:00am and the races begin at noon! Come cheer on your favorite boat/team and see who will float, sink or swim at this family fun event. Contestants make boats out of cardboard and tape and rely on their inventions to keep them afloat as they travel across the lake at Old Settlers Park.
The fastest boats have the opportunity to compete in the finals.

All participants have a chance to win one of the following awards:

• That can’t be made of cardboard! Award
• Titanic Award—Most spectacular sinking
• Fast and Furious Award—Best time
• Who cares about the boat…we look good!
• People’s Choice Award—Prettiest Boat … Doesn’t have to float.
• Tiny Tim—Smallest boat finishing the race
• Big Bertha—Largest boat finishing the race

Come and learn how to make a cardboard boat, then take part in the 3rd annual Round Rock the Boat Regatta. The Boat Regatta takes place on May 15, and Old Settlers Park will be full of spectators waiting to see who will float, sink or swim at this fun event. Contestants make boats out of cardboard and tape and rely on their inventions to keep them afloat as they travel across the lake at Old Settlers Park.

The Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled a Free Boat Building School at REI in Round Rock! You will get all the information you need to make your own cardboard boat and partisepate in the Round Rock the Boat Regatta. Cardboard will be available at the workshops and at our Round Rock Recycling Center.

Looking for a free Spring Break activity for your family? Bring your family to one of our free boat buidling schools. It’s never too early to start planning for the wackiness that is Round Rock the Boat Regatta, and the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled free boat building schools!

You will get all the information you need to make your own cardboard boat and partisepate in the Round Rock the Boat Regatta. Cardboard will be available at the workshops and at our Round Rock Recycling Center.
