The City of Round Rock's Parks and Recreation Department presents the second annual Family Campout this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 21 and 22, at Old Settler’s Park.

Come Camp with us in Old Settlers Park! It is said that a family that plays together stays together. Is there a better way to create lasting memories than through camping, fishing or other similar activities? We don’t think so; however, fewer families are enjoying these activities, the outdoors, and each other.

The Outdoor Family Campout can help provide basic outdoor skills necessary for an enjoyable and successful outdoor experience. More importantly, it shows families how fun the outdoors can be. The campout will lead into National Hunting and Fishing Day.

Activities include rock climbing, lawn games, a reptile and wildlife demonstration, tent decorating contest and more!

Registration for the campout is required and each person attending must be registered. Children ages 2 and under are free and do not need to register. Registration fee includes two meals (hamburger/hot dog dinner on Friday and breakfast on Saturday), instructional how-to sessions, use of demonstration equipment and a t-shirt for each paid participant. The Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department is bringing back family time through one of the great American past times. No, it's not baseball... it's camping! The whole family is invited to join in the fun during the Outdoor Family Campout on September 23 and 24 in Old Settlers Park leading into National Hunting and Fishing Day. There will be an assortment of fun and educational activities for the entire family including geocaching, rock climbing, s'mores, hay rides, ice cream making and more.

Each person is required to register for the Outdoor Family Campout and the deadline is September 21. The $10 registration fee includes two meals, instructional how-to sessions, use of demonstration equipment, and an event t-shirt. Set up your tents and unroll your sleeping bags for an evening of fun and excitement in the great outdoors! After the Campout Make sure you enjoy National Hunting and Fishing Day!
