Round Rock's Play for All Abilities Park is almost completed and will open with a Grand Opening Celebration February 2012! The City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Play for All Abilities Park Volunteer Day and we need at least 300 people to help. Come join us for this historic occasion as we put the finishing touches on this one of a kind park. Come join us Saturday, January 28 from 9:00am to 12:00 noon and help us Sod various park areas, paint, general clean up and other light construction duties.

The City of Round Rock Parks & Recreation Department and the Play for All Foundation Board Members will hold an OPEN HOUSE detailing plans for the upcoming Play for All Abilities Park. The special preview will be open from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 15 in the Community Room at the McConico Building, 301 W. Bagdad Ave. in Round Rock.

The OPEN HOUSE will provide an opportunity to review the latest park designs and ask questions of City staff and the Play for All Foundation Board Members in an informal setting. Additionally, come and hear how you can help make this one-of-a-kind park designed for kids of all abilities a reality!

Our mission is to provide a safe, fun place to play and develop new skills for children of all abilities in Round Rock and surrounding areas. The Play for All Abilities Park will serve the more than 100,000 children of Williamson County with an estimated 7,945 children with a disability.

This large gated park will include a variety of play opportunities designed to stimulate and encourage the development of several skill sets such as gross and fine motor skills, social interaction, sense of discovery, creativity and strengthening exercises. The project is being led by a committee of dedicated members of the Williamson County community and the City of Round Rock. The committee has set up a 501 (c)(3) non-profit foundation (Play for All Foundation) and is asking for help raising funds to build the park.

The park will be located at the existing Rabb Park, off of HWY 79 and A.W. Grimes Blvd. The site is heavily shaded and tucked away from busy streets. The Brushy Creek Regional Trail will be accessible from the park (2010 - 2011 construction). The trail will connect Redbud Lane/CR122 to A.W. Grimes Blvd. and connects into the Greater Lake Creek Trail System.
