This is a great idea and should be expanded giving RR not only the distinction of being Sports Capitol but also give Austin a run for its money on being Arts Capitol. RR is no longer out in the boonies and we have thousands of people now who appreciate good music, theater and the visual arts. Our school music programs are top notch and have been for many years but the music stays inside the schools where nobody hears it except the parents of the kids in the bands, orchestras and choirs. This wonderful asset should be encouraged to emerge out into the community like at the Preet Plaza where the school groups could regularly perform. All it would take is the City asking the RRISD Arts Director or school band, orchestra and choir directors to get outside the confines of the school buildings. All of the taxpayers are paying for these programs. Why do they stay cloistered? How about a Sousa concert given by a combined RRHS, Stony Point and Cedar Ridge group or even just one of the fine, fine bands from any one of those schools.
