Ahh the day has finally come... The 2-6 Teen Gaming Tournament is here!

I'll be reporting as stuff happens, just make like it's happening live as you read.

The prizes look pretty good, and the eye-hand cordination here is INSANE, should be a good binary brawl...

Currently it's 12:45, registration for the wildcard spots have begun. There's a Mario Bros. Melle battling away to my left (go Link!), and ther is a bit of a pile up at the DDR. Must grab some snacks...

It's 1:20, just pulled the 8 wild cards for competion. Man guess who had to pull out the tickets? (X[). Tourney begins soon, the battle for total game ownage is begining to heat up...

Excellent, Mario Double Dash (MDD) is starting up, and I've got, crud, the 5th best view :p (wassup with that? I should have the best view).

1:25, Right we are doing the qualifyers, nothing to significant. AMAZING gaming skills being displayed here...

1:30, Yeah raffle! Ah man, I didn't get anything? Pretty cool games and and MDD RC cars as prizes.

2:05, FINAL RACE! Man, these guys really know there stuff. I'm fairly competent at MDD, but the level of skill at which these guys are racing... is simply phenominal. Amazing things happen when gaming morphs into an art...

Man, 1st place got a $100 Games Stop gift card, and 2nd-4th got $25 Game Stop gift cards. The level of gaming skill and sportsmanship being displayed here are exponentionally amazing.

Well, that's a wrap on that, looks like we've got some cleaning to do... Nah time for me to Melle!

Behold the mighty glorious that is local celebrity!!

Marcial Guajardo, Managing Editor of the Round Rock Leader stopped by our Teen Room yesterday afternoon to snap some shots of our first place contenders for a featured article.

The boys will be splashed on the cover of the Leader on Thursday, December 27th. Control your envy and prepare.

Just two days after the Leader hits the stands our champion will take his rightful place in history-oh who could it be?? The suspense is murder!

In the meantime, Jane will continue to shop for doorprizes, snacks, gift cards, and generate buzz.

I will continue to faithfully wait for new SBemails, download free gaming fonts and create snazzy flyers. Whee!!

The Beat Down

Ok you little sweaty palmed maniacs. The moment we've all been waiting for. Who will emerge victorious and lord his/her hard won plastic over all the land? Hmmm...could it be one of the Hurd brothers who, after placing back to back at our first two tourneys, were not to be seen? Could it be the shrugger Damian who won't reveal any skill secrets (or even verify if he has any)? Or the red-headed screamer Asa "Yeah! You know it! You Know It!!"?

There's the picture of the last qualifying tourney of December 1st. They will be moving on for the (wait for it) DADADA DA DA!!!!!! Grande Finale!!! To be held on December the 29th. There everything will be determined, all those worthy will live all those not worthy, well........they'll live too but not as glorious as those who will walk away as the MARIO KART CHAMPIONS OF THE ~~WORLD~~ ROUND ROCK PUBLIC LIBRARY!

So make sure you all prepare for the match of the century because it's going to be a DOOZY.

Now- here is the deal...One more tournament event -then the big throw down.

I would read this very carefully if I were you...December 1st is our last qualifying match for a guaranteed seat at the Big Boy's Table- but here is where it gets fun guys- make sure you come to the Grand Championship on December 29th even if you were NOT in any of the final four.

There are some pretty little words we've been throwing around...sound something like "wildcard" and "door prizes" and "give-aways".

And for all you "I wanna help!" types - we are looking for help setting up, taking down, advertising, and my personal favorite, ideas and input for our next season.

December 1. Be there. Bring your friends. Tempt them with the opportunity to watch you Crush the Competition. That or the free cookies. Either one.

2-6 Teen Book Club and Advisory Board

Local author April Lurie graced us with a visit at last nights Book Club. We discussed her funny book Brothers, Boyfriends and Other Criminal Minds. We were so fortunate to hear her talk about all kinds of subjects from brothers to her favorite books. Next Book Club meeting will be on Tuesday November the 16th from 6:00-7:00 PM. We will be reading the book Caught in the Act by Peter Moore next. We will post here, on the webpage and on MySpace as soon the book club copies arrive at the library-just remember first come first served!

The Teen Advisory Board met right after the book club and came up with some fantastic ideas for teen programming. What do you all think about Coffeehouse Night featuring a Poetry Slam? A teen band festival? A Super Bowl Sunday Celebration? A fashion show? The list was long and bright and funny so feel free to add to it-it will just get even better! The next TAB meeting will follow the Book Club Meeting on Tuesday November 16th from 7:00-8:00PM.

Once upon a time Jared H. placed in the top four in round one of the 2-6 Teen Gaming Tournament.

Guess who took home the TOP prize this time...that's right, say it with me, Little Bro!! It seems little brother Jacob has been taught a thing or two and maybe has some teaching to do himself. But come December 29th the brothers go head to head along with 14 other Masters of the Kart. Be there.

Why hello winners! Aren't you looking dapper? We can almost see the sparks flying from their electric capabilities!

Oh wait...sorry...I...I think that's just our rope lights...

We came, we snacked, we dance danced, we double dashed and somewhere in the middle I believe there was a melee.

2-6 Teen's first Gaming Tournament was a Super Smash Success! (Awww, that was cheesy-like the Cheetos you so crave).

Over 100 people showed up and we had 40 competitors bracketed in the Double Dash competition.

Kevin S. took the GameStop gift card home with him but John C., Dylan R., and Jared H. rounded out the Top 4. All will return for our Grand Championship in December. Don't they look content as they pose with Jack- our noble Color Commentator? Or maybe that's just the after effects of Mountain Dew Game Fuel?

Jane and I can not give the words "Thank you" enough meaning to all who helped but we especially want to acknowledge: Jack, Brooks, Matt, David, Lee and Kevin. "Thank you, sweeties" go out to Ryan, Josh and Jacob for helping with set up and clean up.

Our future will be decided by you- my young gamers. Here we will be posting questions that will probe your fertile brains fueling our maniacal plans for total world domination. Or sumpin' like that.

We ask. You answer. Mkay? Mkay.

Join us as we feature Nintendo's blockbuster hit Mario Kart Double Dash on the GAMECUBE console for the first bracketed tournament of our very first season! We will also have Super Smash Bros. Melee and PS2's DDR running for open play.

Jack Pattillo from Aspyr in Austin will be providing color commentary, and Matt Messner from Mustache Skateboards located off Gattis School Road in Round Rock has been working with us on our forthcoming tournament logo.

Refreshments will be provided, and yes...we will have a reward for the worthiest, most skilled, shell tossing, kart crashing gamer in Round Rock!
